Christophe Ferreira
(クリストフ・フェレイラ)

Christophe Ferreira, born in 1975, is a French director, animator, and comic book author based in Tokyo. A graduate of the prestigious Gobelins School in Paris, he began his career in France working on animation projects such as Les Lascars. However, a workshop led by renowned animator Yasuo Ōtsuka in late 2001 inspired him to move to Japan to study Japanese animation techniques firsthand.
After settling in Japan in 2003, he worked for major studios including Telecom Animation Film, Studio 4°C, and Studio Pierrot. Over the years, he has contributed to productions such as Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Genius Party, Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai), Magic Tree House, and Bleach, as well as Franco-Japanese co-productions including Ōban Star-Racers and the Wakfu specials. He also created the storyboard for Ancien and the Magic Tablet (Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari, 2017) and designed the mecha for Eden.
In 2025, he directed Leviathan, a twelve-episode animated series produced in Japan and released worldwide on Netflix, featuring an original soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi. The series marked his debut as a television series director.
Alongside his animation career, Christophe Ferreira has also established himself as a comic book author in France. In collaboration with writer Richard Marazano, he created Le Monde de Milo for Dargaud in 2012. The first volume of the series won the Grand Prix des Lecteurs du Journal de Mickey in 2013. The duo later collaborated on Alcyon. His latest work, Oscar and the Girl from the Ghost Island, the first volume of a new series, will be published by Rue de Sèvres on September 9, 2026.
