Carine Borgi is coming to the Tokyo BD Festival 2026!

On October 31 and November 1, 2026, the 2nd Tokyo BD Festival will welcome comics artist Carine Borgi!

Her first graphic novel, La Promesse du souffle (The Promise of Breath, written by Anne Idoux), was published by Rue de Sèvres in May 2025. This historical coming-of-age story is set in 15th-century Korea and follows Dalrae, a young girl from a rural village who plays a crucial role in the creation and dissemination of Hangeul during the reign of King Sejong the Great.

Carine Borgi

Carine Borgi is a French-Lebanese illustrator based in Paris. She studied illustration and comics at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in 2016. She then pursued a Master's degree in drawing and visual development at École Émile Cohl in Lyon, graduating in 2018. Through her experience both in-house and as a freelance artist, she has developed a strong command of a wide range of techniques and media, forging a distinctive style that elegantly blends Eastern and Western artistic sensibilities.
