Ulli Lust in Tokyo !

From Saturday 1 November to Sunday 2 November 2025, the Tokyo BD Festival will welcome illustrator Ulli Lust, invited by the Goethe-Institut and Shu Cream publishing! Her moving graphic novel, ‘TROP N'EST PAS ASSEZ’ (Too Much Is Not Enough), is finally available in Japanese and has taken on a new lease of life since April 2025. Through the self-destructive yet intense and gripping journey of a woman, this powerful work explores the boundaries between love, desire, art and madness. Ulli Lust's bold and delicate style challenges readers to question the deeper meaning of life.

（Ulli Lust）

Ulli Lust was born in 1967 in Vienna, Austria, and has lived in Berlin since 1995, where she studied art at the Kunsthochschule. She began her career as a children's book illustrator in 1993 and started working in comics in 1998. She works in the field of comic book journalism and has produced illustrations for numerous newspapers and magazines, including Le Monde diplomatique.

Ulli Lust contributed to the comic anthology Alltagsspionage, published by Monogatari in 2001, and went on to produce numerous works, including Fashionvictims, Minireportagen aus Berlin (2008, Avant-Verlag). She contributed to the collective work Pommes d'amour (published in 2008 by Delcourt) and L'employé du Moi published her erotic-mythical story Airpussy in 2009. Published in Germany in 2009 and in France in 2010, Trop n'est pas assez ‘ (Heute ist der Letzte Tag vom rest Deines Lebens) won the 2011 Angoulême Revelation Prize and the 2011 Artémisia Prize. ’Voix de la Nuit" (Flughunde) was published in Germany in 2013. In 2014, Ulli Lust received the prestigious Max und Moritz Prize for best German-language comic artist.
