Sonia Déchamps in Tokyo !

From Saturday 1 November to Sunday 2 November 2025, screenwriter and editor Sonia Déchamps will be attending the Tokyo BD Festival!

Sonia Déchamps collaborates with several artists. She works on comic books, focusing on story structure, dialogue, and theme development. She wrote and structured David Prudhomme's ‘Sumographie,’ which explores the world of sumo wrestling from a cultural and philosophical perspective.

Born in 1987, Sonia Déchamps joined Europe 1 at the age of 20, while studying history, where she worked for six years before joining Mouv’, Radio France’s youth radio station. A literary journalist who has worked for France Culture (Le Réveil Culturel, La Dispute), Polar+ (Pistes Noires), Le Monde des ados, Les Cahiers de la BD and Casemate, she launched the Les jeudis de la bande dessinée cycle at the Centre Pompidou and was co-artistic director of the Angoulême International Comics Festival between 2020 and 2023. As an author, she has collaborated with Alain Kokor in La Revue Dessinée, written comic strips with Clément Paurd for Mâtin! (published by Dargaud) and published Sumographie with David Prudhomme (published by Soleil). Sonia is now an editor of comic books and novels at Actes Sud. In 2024, she founded the Sojoe agency.
