Jean-Paul Nishi, Karyn Nishimura, Florent Dabadie : three surprise guests at the Tokyo Comic Festival!

On Sunday, 2 November 2025, the Tokyo BD Festival will be delighted to welcome Jean-Paul Nishi, Karyn Nishimura and Florent Dabadie! All three will be present to sign their books on Sunday afternoon. Florent Dabadie will also participate in a round table discussion entitled ‘Is science fiction the king of comic books?’ which will be held on Sunday, 2 November, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Jean-Paul NISHI is a Japanese manga artist who sketches anecdotes from his (not so easy) daily life with his French journalist wife and two children, as well as their misadventures during stays in Paris. He has been publishing monthly in the manga magazine Feel Young for 14 years and is the author of several series, some of which have been translated into French: Paris, mon amour (Picquier), A nos amours (Kana), Ivre du Japon (Kana), Papa, viens jouer avec moi (in Japanese).

Karyn Nishimura, born Karine Poupée in 1970, is a journalist based in Japan for Libération, Radio France and Le Point, after spending fifteen years at Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Tokyo. She also writes a column in three monthly magazines and a Japanese daily newspaper. She is also the author of essays published in Japan and France by Editions Tallandier and Editions Picquier. ‘L'affaire Midori’ is her first novel (published by Picquier) and ‘Japon, la face cachée de la perfection’ (Tallandier) is her most recent essay.

After a bachelor’s degree in Japanese language and civilization from INALCO Paris in 1997, becomes editor assistant at Premiere Japan movie magazine in Tokyo from 1998 to 2004, while being the Japanese soccer national team coach translator between 1999 and 2002 ( Copa America 99, Sydney Olympics 2000 and World Cup 2002 ).
From 2004, career shift towards sports journalism : MC of Fuji TV weekly sports show “Sporto” and iconic WOWOW tennis show, respectively until 2014 and 2019. From 2019, correspondent of french National sports newspaper LEQUIPE. Starts its own consulting buisness for sports and cultural events.
